Cabrillo Bike Path
Relax with gorgeous ocean views on the Cabrillo Bike Path while traveling to some of Santa Barbara’s most iconic sights.
The route is easygoing, paved, and flat – because who wants to sweat on vacation?
Missing a bike? No problem. Many hotels in the area, such as Harbor House Inn, offer complimentary bikes (and beach stuff) with your stay. There are also plenty of bike rental shops around, like Wheel Fun Rentals.
Start from Leadbetter Beach and bring a picnic to Chase Palm Park, known for its tall and elegant palm trees. Nearby, the Chromatic Gate is also a popular photo destination.
Butterfly Beach
When the fresh ocean breeze turns into a bright floral fragrance, you’ll know you’ve arrived at Butterfly Beach. Easily the most beautiful beach in Santa Barbara, it smells better than a Beverly Hills spa.
To finish your bike ride in style, stop for a cocktail at Montecito’s Honor Bar (outdoor patio). With boutiques on Coast Village Rd and Butterfly Beach around the corner, this coastal bike route is more about chill luxury than rugged sport.
Montecito
Even royalty can’t resist Montecito’s classy allure. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently moved to Montecito, joining Oprah, Brad Pitt, and other celebrities in the area. Tucked between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains, return for a swim or head to one of many trailheads for a sunset hike.
I’ll talk Santa Barbara’s culinary scene in my next post. In the meantime, what are your favorite scenic bike paths, hiking trails, and run routes?
You have a great way of succinctly bringing these adventures to life. Makes me want to schedule a trip once we get past these challenging times. While I live on the east coast, I’ve explored a bunch of California…but not enough! Now I want to check out both Butterfly Beach and Montecito. As someone who loves the outdoors, and is highly active, your descriptions make one have to employ their imagination. With that, I’ll just have to hop on a bike a take a ride along the paths. Look forward to your next adventure post!
Thanks, David; I appreciate your positive feedback. I’ll incorporate more active nature adventures in the future!
